Marshmallow Mule signature cocktail

Marshmallow Mule

Yield: 1

A rich mule originating from “Camp Cocktails” by Emily Vikre, this decadent cocktail is perfect for a cozy winter holiday party and surprising your guests with an inventive and festive drink. We personally recommend using whiskey if you’re looking for a richer heat balanced by the roasted marshmallow and vodka if you’re looking for something more sweet and smooth.

Ingredients for cocktail:

1 ½ ounces vodka (or whiskey or rum)
1 ½ ounces Marshmallow and Ginger Syrup (separate recipe below)
Soda Water
Lime Wedges
1 marshmallow, for garnish

Directions:

  1. In a rock glass filled with ice, add the vodka and syrup
  2. Top with soda water and gently stir (we used a cinnamon stick to stir to add bit of spice)
  3. Squeeze in lime wedges to taste
  4. Stick your garnish marshmallow onto a long toothpick
  5. Light the marshmallow on fire, then blow it out, and garnish over the drink

Ingredients for Marshmallow & Ginger Syrup:

10 marshmallows
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
½ cup grated fresh ginger

Directions for Marshmallow & Ginger Syrup:

  1. Toast the marshmallows over dying embers / available source of heat until they are dark brown and melted inside
  2. Put them into a heavy-bottomed pan or cast-iron pan, then add the sugar and water
  3. Slowly bring to a boil, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar and the marshmallows
  4. Once you reach a gentle boil, turn the heat down to a simmer and continue cooking and stirring until the marshmallows have dissolved
  5. Remove the syrup from the heat, stir in the grated ginger, and transfer to a heat proof container
  6. Cover and allow to cool overnight
  7. The next day, strain the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer lined with a cheesecloth

Note from the author: The syrup will keep in a tightly sealed container in the fridge for at least 2 weeks.
